MAY BANK HOLIDAY EDITION

As the Early May Bank Holiday weekend arrives, Wales is bursting with events, festivals and family-friendly adventures to make the most of the long weekend. From vibrant street parades in North Wales to riverside celebrations in Monmouthshire, comedy festivals in Mid Wales and quirky steampunk gatherings in Gwynedd, there’s something happening in every corner of the country.

In North Wales, the much-loved Llandudno (Victorian Extravaganza returns from 2–4 May, transforming the seaside town into a spectacular celebration of all things vintage, with Victorian street fairs, steam engines, parades and traditional fairground rides. Meanwhile, in Mid Wales, the renowned Machynlleth Comedy Festival runs from 1–3 May, bringing top comedians and intimate performances to venues across the town.

In South East Wales, the magical Wye Valley River Festival – Monmouth Mischief takes over Monmouth from 2–4 May, promising a weekend of “magic, merriment and mayhem” with performances, installations and family entertainment. Nearby, music lovers can head to Rock the Boat 2026 in Penallt on 2–3 May for live music, local food and stunning riverside views.

For something truly unique, Steampunk Weekend at Portmeirion on 2–3 May offers a whimsical escape into retro-futuristic fashion, entertainment and one of Wales’s most iconic locations. View Guide to Portmerion Here

Whether you’re looking for laughter, live music, culture or family fun, this bank holiday weekend is the perfect time to explore the very best of Wales.

Thursday 30th April 🌥️ A mix of sun and cloud throughout the day. A slight 20% chance of a light shower. Highs around 15°C.

Friday 1st May ☀️ A lovely spring day with plenty of sunshine and just a few passing clouds. Staying dry. Highs around 17°C. Perfect weather for enjoying the first day of the long weekend!

Saturday 2nd May 🌤️ Another pleasant day with a good deal of sunshine, though some clouds will bubble up in the afternoon. Remaining dry. Highs around 18°C. Great conditions for any outdoor activities or events.

Sunday 3rd May ⛅ A mix of sun and cloud to end the weekend. Staying mostly dry with just a 10% chance of a light shower. Highs around 16°C.

The early May bank holiday weekend looks set to bring generally settled and mild weather. Friday and Saturday are shaping up to be the pick of the bunch with plenty of sunshine and dry conditions. Just keep an eye out for a few possible showers on Wednesday and Thursday. All in all, it's looking like a great weekend to get outdoors and enjoy the spring weather! 🌼☀️
